Meet Dr. Lawrence Chang
Your Virginia Beach Dermatologist
Dr. Chang is an experienced board certified dermatologist and Mohs surgeon with special interests in skin cancer (Mohs Surgery), surgical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology and general dermatology. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, where he grew up in a Chinese community, Dr. Chang speaks fluent Mandarin.
In the U.S., Dr. Chang received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a Minor in Electrical Engineering with high scholastic honors at Colorado School of Mines. He completed an internship with the Department of Medicine at University of Colorado Health Services Center in Denver, Colorado and his Dermatology Residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. There, he also underwent a Mohs Surgery Fellowship with the Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Chang chose to become a dermatologist because he wanted to improve people’s quality of life. Due to his precise surgical skills, his interventions yield high success rates, allowing him to make a real difference in the lives of his patients. He values the unique opportunity he has to help patients not only regain their health, but their confidence as well.
Dr. Chang is dedicated to personal growth and continuous learning in the field of dermatology and demonstrates this commitment by receiving at least 50 CME (Continuing Medical Education) credits a year. He aims to stay up to date with the latest advancements and techniques by attending various conferences, workshops, and courses in the latest in dermatology such as injectables, laser treatments, surgical techniques and more.
A renowned doctor in his field, Dr. Chang is the recipient of various awards, recognizing his achievements in research and academics. He was also named a “Top Doctor” by Coastal Virginia Magazine in 2022, 2021 and 2020.
Outside of the office, you can find Dr. Chang spending time with his wife and two children and gardening—growing flowers and vegetables. He loves studying and learning about plants and nature and admiring their beauty and unique features.
