Meet Shawn Khan, PA-C

Shawn joined the Chang Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center team in 2026 as a Physician Assistant. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Arizona State University, followed by a Master of Arts in Biomedical Sciences from Midwestern University and a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Emory University. He is currently completing the Society of Dermatology PAs Diplomate: The Legacy of Excellence online dermatology training program.

Shawn is especially interested in medical and surgical dermatology, an interest that developed through his experience in the emergency department and an outpatient ENT clinic, where he frequently encountered a wide range of skin conditions. These experiences strengthened his ability to view the skin as an important indicator of overall health and further deepened his interest in dermatology. He also gained valuable experience performing laceration repairs, with an emphasis on achieving optimal cosmetic outcomes.

Shawn is committed to lifelong learning and continually refining his clinical skills. Working in a collaborative environment with experienced clinicians reinforces his dedication to providing high-quality patient care. Shawn is passionate about patient education and takes pride in explaining complex medical concepts in a clear and understandable way. He values shared decision-making and actively incorporates patients’ perspectives and concerns into their care plans.

Outside of the office, Shawn enjoys weightlifting, yoga, longboarding and spending time at the local parks and beach with his wife and their baby boy. Originally from Gilbert, Arizona, his favorite part about Virginia Beach is the close proximity to the beach and parks.
